About Lesley Holmes
Having spent many happy years in Moreton in Marsh in the Cotswolds I now live on a farm in Cornwall near Falmouth with the animals that feature in my work. Inspired by the Cornish coast and countryside I hope my paintings capture the light and atmosphere of this very special part of the country. Painting 'en plein air', recording movement and life such as fishing boats in the harbour views or cattle and sheep in the landscapes is an important part of my work. I am entirely self taught in the art of painting although I have had training in drawing. I am influenced by Turner, Edward Seago, John Arnesby Brown and variuos members of the Newlyn School of painters.
